Worker’s Issues

Factories like Denim Clothing, supply clothes to international fashion brands, again fired thousands of workers just before Eid, Labor Department becomes silent spectator. Regrettably international laws, GSP+ or GFAs failed to protect workers. Now there’s only way left for workers is “STRUGGLE”!!

275 Standards Board (Chemical factory),Khi workers were fired on 31st May without any notice. These workers r protesting at factory gate for last 2 days. They deprived of their basic right including minimum wage. Their demands r reinstatement and payment of Minimum wages.

After the long resistance against management, a negotiation was done between labour department and factory management. 192 workers were called back to work and remaining 83 were paid with all their legal dues.

Management of International Textile Ltd pressurize other workers, if they attempted to make a union they will be fired too. Police is also on the side of the capitalists. It’s been more than 6 months; the sacked workers await for their reinstatement.

Dark side of hospitality Industry: Marriot, M&S & Accor mint billions of $/€ in revenue yearly by exploiting workers at the bottom of their supply chain. Factory in Pakistan, produces towels & bathing clothes for these brands fired workers for demanding overtime payments & leaves.

Brands are equally responsible for this exploitation. They control everything from design to packaging &, of course, accumulate the most profit in the whole chain. This disparity gives rise to global inequality and the capital-subservient state policies weaken the working class more. We demand that these brands must respect labor rights & the ILO conventions, ensure decent work across their supply chain. They must direct their suppliers to stop union busting & give workers living wages as set by the trade and skills but not below the statutory minimum wage!

Naeem Impex, (Producing for int. Brands including Amazon, Harry potter, BV ) retrenched more then 25 workers. They all have been fired without adopting any legal process just before Ramadan.

After this long hardwork and protest, 16 workers out of 22 workers reinstated and they will be issued appointment letter soon. Discussion is going on for remaining 6 workers.

Long live workers unity!! #PayYourWorkers

Factory contractor expelled 25 workers from the factory without giving them show cause notice or any reason. Workers were being threatened by contractor when they started protest for their rights at the factory gate.

Workers of International textile Ltd Unit 2 (manufacturing towels for Standard Textile France, STC & London luxury Accor) protested against their retrenchment from the factory!

After successful talks with the factory management, workers dismissed their protest. All workers have been reinstated on their jobs from today.

Syngenta Pakistan Ltd, Switzerland pesticide company, sacked illegally more than 100 workers from Pakistan for demanding their legal position as permanent employee. They all worked for last 20 to 25 year as a regular workers!!

Workers were forced to work on contract system! many workers were fired who refuse to work in the contracting system. See how state apprentice is used against unarmed workers who were protesting for their constitutional and labour rights, at Rajbi textile Garment Industries, producing clothes for H&M, C&A etc.

Workers of Rajby unit 5, producing garments for H&M, were sacrificed at the altar of employer’s ego. Rajby doesn’t want to reinstate sacked workers as it will damage its writ in the factory!

Rauf Textile Mill workers went strike in side the factory. Demanding their last 3 months salaries. This factory produce fabric for export oriented companies in Pakistan.

After 2 days protest, Rauf textile workers received their 1 month salary yesterday night. They’ll receive another pending salary by 12 to 15 December. It was also agreed with the employer that in future workers would receive their wages by the 20th of each month.

Protest in Karachi against forced dismissal, nonpayment of wages and bonus. Also condemn the attack on workers by Denim Clothing company & said that if the workers demand will not be fulfilled then the next call will be for sit in at Sindh Assembly.

Denim factory (producing for H&M & other international brand) workers were in violent mood as their wages and bonus were not paid. The management had locked the door, not allowed workers to go out for protest.

Siddique Sons # 33 (C&A & KIBI brands), sacked more then 2000, including 400 women, workers from job today without paying their dues! Company has paid only 50% of workers wages. Employer asked workers to work under contactor from tomorrow, which is illegal

On the instruction of factory management, Workers were at factory (TriStar Polyester LTD) gate on 11th May to collect their wages but no one was inside, that day they get to know that they all have been fired!!!

Industrialists Win Again!! Dadad Khan, Assist Commissioner West, had took immediate action on workers complaint against TriStar Polyester Textile (Image brand) by getting undertaking! Now he is transferred and even he has been sued in court!!! TriStar Polyester Factory workers will receive their salary for the month of April by 10th May and no workers will be sacked!!! Thanks to Mr. Dadad Assistant Commissioner for his immediate action on our complaint!!!

Lucky Textile Mill (garment) sacked more then 300 workers without informing them and paying their wages! Workers protested today. Will receive their wages and dues on Thursday 7th May.

The management of Lucky Textile Mill has forcefully took workers sign on their own resignation letter (typed by management). Today they have sacked more then 200 workers most of them were women.

Workers of Rauf Textile & Printing Mill are protesting against the nonpayment of their wages in front of factory. Total 450 workers working in the factory, 100 are permanent, remaining are on contract basis. It’s a clear violation of govt order which ensured workers wages and jobs.

Good news that Rauf Textile and Printing Mills workers received their salaries, in cash to contract workers and in bank to permanent workers! Long live workers’ struggle!!

Abdul Rashid working as daily wager in Habib Oil Company from 1991 without getting any benefit from his employer like pension and social security. Even after 30 years, he is not paid the minimum wage. He earns 12,000 to 15,000 per month!!!

Santosh 25, machine operator at denim factory, died of a heart attack. His only crime was that he asked for leave. In every factory, worker is considered a thief & a liar. This behavior is common on the part of management. Can brands and their local suppliers bring him back to life? He was not allowed for medical treatment by the management. The factory produces garments for international fashion brands including H&M.
